Hold-open door closers allow a door to remain open at a predetermined angle until it is intentionally closed or automatically released. They are widely used in commercial buildings, hospitals, schools and on fire doors.
Types of Hold-Open Mechanisms
Manual Hold-Open
The arm locks at a selected angle. The door stays open until someone pulls it closed. Simple, mechanical and very common on non-fire doors.
Automatic Release (Fire Doors)
Uses an electromagnetic holder or fusible link. The door is held open under normal conditions and releases automatically when the fire alarm activates or the link melts.
